XL Group plc's investment portfolio is managed by external investment professionals under the direction of the Investment department. Our investment portfolio consists of exposures to:

• Fixed income securities, including cash and cash equivalents
• Equities
• Alternative investments
• Private investments (including private equity and mezzanine funds)
• Other strategic business investments

Given XL Group plc’s global Franchise, these securities and investments are denominated in both U.S. dollar and foreign currencies.

External managers are selected by the Investment department. The vast majority of the Company's investment portfolio is managed by well established, large institutional investment professionals.

XL Group plc and its subsidiaries, including XL Investment Management Ltd, XL Investment Management (USA) LLC and XL Capital Investment Partners Inc., provide investment advisory services and advice only to XL Group plc-related entities.
