Our Business
The XL Group is organized into three operating segments - Insurance, Reinsurance and Life Operations.

On a global level, our companies enjoy strong relationships with the world's leading brokers, and, at a local level, with the best regional and independent brokers. Depending upon the type of product they seek and their geographical location, customers may access XL companies through retail and wholesale brokers. In certain jurisdictions they may also access our companies directly.
Insurance

XL Insurance companies offer a wide range of commercial property, casualty and specialty risk products and services on a global basis. Products generally provide tailored coverages for complex corporate risks and include the following lines of business: property, casualty, professional liability, environmental liability, aviation and satellite, marine and offshore energy, equine, fine art and specie, excess and surplus lines and other insurance coverages including program business.
Reinsurance

The XL Reinsurance companies provide casualty, property risk (including energy and engineering), property catastrophe, marine, aviation, and other specialty reinsurance on a global basis with business being written on both a proportional and non-proportional basis and in certain limited instances on a direct basis.
Life Operations

XL Life Operations segment is not accepting new business.
Corporate

Corporate includes Global Services - the network of people that enable XL Group companies to efficiently deliver local services in the global marketplace. It is comprised of XL's investments, finance, legal, real estate, human resources, and marketing and communication functions.
Investments

XL Group companies' investment operations are managed centrally by our Investment Group. The investment portfolio consists primarily of fixed income securities with an appropriately sized allocation to equities, alternative investments and private investments.
